José Pereira also known as the “Djudjé si Regina” was born in the city of São Filipe, on the island of Fogo, Cape Verde. His mixed media works are created using materials nostalgic from his days of working with his father gathering similar materials for residential and commercial construction in his hometown . From an early age, José loved to draw. He looked at everything as a canvas from paper, the floor and even beach sand using pencil, chalk, or ballpoint pen. Animals, people, and objects became his subjects, and quickly attracted the attention of his family members, teachers and surrounding communities. Now based in Orlando, Florida, José is now a member of Disney's creative team where he has lent his talents to stage production for Magic Kingdom. José's art has been featured in major motion pictures including the Pirates of the Caribbean. His works have also been exhibited globally in galleries and institutions in Portugal, Holland, Norway and the United States
